Terminal Decoration and Music Projects at KIX - KIX CULTURE GATE Project

The KIX CULTURE GATE Project aims to introduce the rich and diverse cultures of Kansai and Japan to the world from KIX, a gateway connecting travellers from around the globe. By transforming the airport into a place where art and culture interact, the project creates an environment that can be enjoyed daily by both air travellers and local residents. Through a wide range of initiatives, we will continue to offer visitors from Japan and abroad fresh and inspiring travel experiences.

At Kansai International Airport, we are committed to providing airport experiences that make time spent at the airport more comfortable and memorable through terminal decoration and live music performances. By valuing a sense of place rooted in Kansai and Japan, as well as seasonality, we create airport‑only experiences that convey a warm sense of welcome upon arrival and inspire anticipation for the journey ahead or lasting impressions upon departure.

Terminal Decoration

We decorate our terminals to warmly welcome visitors and see them off. By placing decorations along arrival routes, corridors, and entrances—locations that naturally catch the eye during a journey—we strive to create spaces that bring joy, surprise, and a genuine sense of having arrived in Kansai. The decorations change with the seasons and are designed to reflect the culture and landscapes of Kansai and Japan.

Music Project

The music project is designed to add color and a sense of comfort to time spent at the airport.
Under the title “KIX Live Music,” the project aims to make moments before and after a journey feel a little more special and memorable through live performances by a diverse range of artists across genres, from pop to classical music.
As a special experience unique to the airport, music encountered at that moment and place adds a gentle, lasting touch to travellers’ memories.
