Renovation works for Kansai International Airport
Terminal 1 Building in progress!
Kansai International Airport (KIX) is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation for the first time since its opening in 1994.
Following the opening of the new domestic terminal area which was the first phase of the renovation project, now,
the international departure area is opened on December 5th, 2023.
The new commercial areas include walk-through duty free shops; PLAZA,
which is a relaxation space themed on Japan and the Kansai region;
and four commercial zones, each with different atmospheres. It gives the passengers and guests a new travel experience.

Number of people using the international terminal has increase greatly compared from when the airport was opened. The number has temporarily dropped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is expected to continue to increase. To be able to accommodate more passengers and guests, we are boosting the capacity of the international terminal.

Departure procedure will become smoother with the automated gate. After the passport control, the new zone will allow you to enjoy the airport to the most while you wait for the boarding time. Whether it is good food, shopping or some winding up, we have everything to suit your taste!
