Umbrella Reuse Service
Umbrella Reuse Service
Terminal 1 Building 1F/2F/4F
Kansai International Airport is running an umbrella reuse service to improve convenience for our customers and to reduce waste.
This service is a system where umbrellas are picked up that are no longer wanted by customers, such as those thrown away in waste receptacles around the airport, those that can be reused are then selected, and they are then freely given to customers to take home when there is unexpected rain.
If you find yourself without an umbrella when you need one, please take one.

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)
AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)
Kansai International Airport was the first airport in Japan to install AED devices that can be used by ordinary citizens. There are 45 AED units in total; 27 units in the Terminal 1 Building, 10 units in the Terminal 2 Building, and 8 units in the Aeroplaza, hotel, Observation Hall and other locations.
About AEDs
- AED is short for Automated External Defibrillator.
- An AED is a medical device that is used to restart the heart of a person who is in cardiac arrest (ventricular fibrillation). The device works by giving the patient an electric shock to remove the fibrillation (i.e. to defibrillate them).
- AEDs were formerly only able to be used by trained medical personnel, but as of July 1st, 2004, ordinary citizens have been permitted to use them.
- To use and AED, simply open the cover. The power will be turned on automatically, and it is then simply a matter of following the audio instructions. AEDs are easy to operate, even for first time users.
- Chances of survival are greatly increased when an AED is used in conjunction with heart massage and CPR.
- All AEDs at KIX can give audio guidance in Japanese and English.
