  • Browse the Net via your own laptop computer.
  • Maximum connection speed of 11 Mbps.
  • Free of charge.
  • No application procedures needed to connect.
  • You must have a wireless LAN card (IEEE802.11b) to use this service.
  • If your laptop does not have a wireless LAN card, you may still connect to the Internet using one of the LAN cables installed at the computer desks.

Internet - How to Use Wireless Access Points

Connecting

(1) Using the setup software provided with your wireless LAN card, set the "Mode" and "ESS-ID" settings as below.

  1. Mode: Infrastructure
  2. ESS-ID: kixmbl
  3. There is no need to set a WEP key.

(2) Network Settings
Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000

  1. Go to the Start menu and click Settings > Control Panel > Network. The Network window will appear. Select the Configuration tab, specify the name of your wireless LAN card, and click Properties. Adjust the settings as below:

  • Check Obtain an IP address automatically on the IP Address tab.
  • Check Use DHCP for WINS resolution on the WINS Configuration tab.

Windows XP

  1. Go to the Start menu and click Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on Wireless Network Connection and click Properties to display the Wireless Network Connection Properties window.
  2. Select the Wireless Network tab, and click Add under Preferred networks to display the Wireless Network Properties window.
  3. Confirm that the Association tab is selected. Enter the Network name (SSID) as "kixmbl", confirm that Data encryption is set to Disabled, then click OK.
  4. Return to the Wireless Networks tab and click OK.
  5. If you are not automatically connected at this point, click View Wireless Networks under Available networks, and click Refresh network list under Network Tasks on the left of the window. Confirm that "kixmbl" is selected from the list of available networks, and click Connect.

The network name (SSID) is kixmbl. Make sure that it is spelt correctly.

 

Browser Settings (Internet Explorer 5.0 and above)

(1) From your browser toolbar, select Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab. Open Local Area Network Settings.
(2) Click LAN Settings and make sure Automatically detect settings is checked.
(3) Make sure Use a proxy server is unchecked.

If your browser does not display anything

(1) Repeat the above steps again
(2) Repeat the Network Settings process several times.
(3) Restart your computer.

*Connection has been confirmed using wireless LAN cards from several major manufacturers. However, not all cards may be able to connect.

 

Cautions regarding the use of this service

  • This service uses the IEEE802.11b wireless LAN standard.
  • This service is provided free of charge, however users are responsible for any and all fees incurred through pay-to-use services on the Internet.
  • Services apart from viewing websites and sending and receiving e-mail may not always be available.
  • You must abide by all laws prohibiting illegal access and similar illegal activities when using this service.
  • Users are responsible for installing and setting their own wireless LAN cards.
  • By prohibiting wireless communication between computers connected to the wireless network (i.e. ad-hoc networks), we create a more secure environment for all users.
    (Ad-hoc networks are prohibited using Buffalo's "Privacy Separator Function")
  • We keep a usage log for operational purposes.
  • Kansai International Airport Co Ltd is not liable for any damage resulting from use of this service.
